Liposuction

WHAT IS LIPOSUCTION?

For individuals who do not have weight or obesity problems but experience localized fat accumulation in certain areas of their bodies due to various reasons, a treatment procedure called 'liposuction,' or commonly referred to as 'fat removal' today, is applied. Liposuction aims to remove excess fat tissues from the body and reshape it to achieve better contours, for those with localized fat accumulations that cannot be eliminated through weight loss methods. This procedure is not a weight loss method but rather an operation performed solely for localized slimming and body contouring purposes. Widely preferred today, this procedure can be applied to many parts of the body such as hips, abdomen, waist, hips, and legs. Liposuction surgery generally involves making fat tissues more fluid using various methods and removing these liquefied fat tissues from the body through 2-3 mm cannulas. Anyone in good general health can undergo this operation. However, it is not recommended for pregnant individuals or those who have recently given birth.

How Is Liposuction Surgery Performed?
Various techniques and methods are used during liposuction surgery, and the methods applied may vary depending on the individual's body structure, the area of fat accumulation, and the current state of fat accumulation.

-Liposuction with Lipomatic

-Wet technique liposuction

-Ultrasonic liposuction

-Laser liposuction

One of the methods applied for body shaping and fat removal is the application known as Lipomatic or Infrasonic Tickle Liposuction. Lipomatic is an FDA-approved device that provides high-volume liposuction throughout the body. With Lipomatic Liposuction, excess fat tissues causing contour deformities in certain areas of the body are vacuumed and removed using vibrating cannulas. Liposuction with Lipomatic ensures less tissue damage and allows for homogeneous removal of fat. The recovery process after this operation is shorter compared to traditional liposuction procedures. Another advantage of the Lipomatic method is that, in addition to general anesthesia, it allows for the option of local anesthesia in some individuals.

The wet technique liposuction method involves filling the fat cells where localized fat accumulation occurs with fluid, causing these cells to swell. Subsequently, small incisions are made on the skin to access the relevant fat cells. The unwanted fat cells in the body are then suctioned out using vacuum devices.

In ultrasonic liposuction, fat tissues are broken down with sound waves, making the targeted fat tissues more fluid. The liquefied fat tissues are then removed from the body.

In laser liposuction, laser beams are used. Laser beams are directed to the fat cells in the targeted area of localized fat accumulation. Subsequently, absorption is performed from under the skin through incisions a few millimeters long.

Recovery Process After Liposuction Surgery
Specially designed corsets must be worn after the operation. It is recommended to wear these corsets for approximately 4 to 8 weeks, depending on the amount of fat tissue removed and the individual's characteristics. Swelling and bruising are expected after the operation, and this condition gradually disappears over time. Stitches are removed a week after the procedure, and if there are no problems with the patient's overall condition one to three weeks after that, they can return to work and daily life. Heavy sports activities should be avoided for at least 4 weeks after the procedure. To maintain the permanent results of the operation and prevent the treated area from re-fattening, a balanced diet consisting of more vegetables, fiber-rich foods, and lean proteins with low fat content should be adopted, and regular exercise programs should be implemented.
