Leg Aesthetics

LEG AESTHETICS

Leg aesthetics encompass all aesthetic procedures aimed at providing a proportional, aesthetic, and attractive appearance to the entire leg from the buttocks to the ankles. The thickness, thinness, asymmetry, or deformity of the legs can lead to a disturbing appearance and may result in a loss of self-confidence. Leg aesthetic surgery is increasingly preferred today by individuals who are not satisfied with the appearance of their legs. Many women suffering from deformities or curvature in their legs complain of not being able to wear everything they want. However, nowadays, not only women but also men pay attention to body aesthetics. Operations related to leg aesthetics such as leg slimming and treatment of crooked legs are now attracting the attention of men as much as women.

How Is Leg Aesthetic Surgery Performed?
There are many procedures that can be performed on the leg area. These can be applied alone or in combination according to the patient's needs.

-Liposhaping: Fat accumulation mainly occurs in the buttocks, inner thighs, and inner knees. Removing fat from these areas makes the legs look longer and smoother. Additionally, overall slimming can be achieved by performing liposuction around the legs. The area below the knee and around the ankle is slimmed down with small cannulas. The extracted fat can be added to necessary areas to achieve smoother-looking legs. Fat injections are most commonly performed on the areas below the knees and calves. Additionally, minor deformities can be concealed with fat injections.

-Calf implants: Although thin legs may be desirable, they can appear unattractive when excessively thin, especially in patients with disproportionately thin lower legs. Silicone calf implants can be a good solution, particularly for patients with a disproportionately thin lower leg. The implants are placed through a small incision made behind the knee. This makes the legs look thicker and more muscular, emphasizing the slim ankle and giving the legs a more attractive appearance. Silicone calf implants are particularly preferred by men and women interested in bodybuilding.

-Thigh lift: The thin skin on the inner side of the thighs becomes loose and saggy due to aging and weight fluctuations. In this case, excess skin is removed with a vertical incision to tighten the thighs.

-Filling applications: Hyaluronic acid fillers can be applied to patients with minor deformities in their legs but insufficient fat for fat injection. The most well-known brand is Macrolane, which lasts approximately 1 year.

Recovery Process After Leg Aesthetic Surgery
Bathing can be resumed two days after the operation. A corset should be worn for approximately 3 weeks after liposhaping. Compression stockings should be worn for another 3 weeks after liposhaping and calf implants. Swelling may persist for a long time after liposhaping procedures on the lower leg and ankle. These symptoms gradually decrease and disappear over time. Patients are advised to minimize standing and elevate their legs as much as possible during the first few weeks. Similarly, movement should be restricted in the first few weeks after calf implantation. Sports activities other than running are permitted after the third week. All kinds of activities are allowed after the sixth week. Starting LPG, radiofrequency, and lymphatic drainage massages from the second week after the operation are very beneficial for shaping the legs more quickly.

Is anesthesia required for leg aesthetic surgery?
Leg aesthetic surgeries are performed in the operating room and, depending on the procedure, under general or local anesthesia.

How long does leg aesthetic surgery take?
Leg aesthetic surgeries can take 1 to 4 hours depending on the procedures performed.

Is the result of leg aesthetic surgery permanent?
Some of the fat given during liposhaping is lost, but the changes in leg shape obtained are permanent. Similarly, the effect of calf implants is permanent. Macrolane injections disappear completely within 1 year. Patients should pay attention to their weight, engage in regular exercise, and undergo skincare to maintain the results obtained through surgery.
